Our Story

What we do

Wetsi Gallery is an independent contemporary art space based in Brussels, dedicated at showcasing artists and intellectuals from a range of backgrounds, as well as exploring social issues through art and creativity.

Our mission is to provide a platform for marginalized voices, supporting artists who explore themes of social justice, identity, and cultural diversity. We understand that each person is unique and has their own dreams and aspirations. That\’s why we offer personalized solutions and support tailored, to each artist’s needs and goals.

Founded in 2019, Wetsi Gallery, under the leadership of Anne Wetsi Mpoma, has been a pioneer in promoting African diaspora artists, gaining historic media coverage for their work. Beyond exhibitions, Wetsi Gallery has actively advocated for decolonial and anti-racist causes in Belgium, addressing issues like the restitution of stolen artifacts, the colonial legacy in public spaces or the invisibilisation of the (women) artists of the diasporic world.

With a deep commitment to fostering mutual respect, healing, and dialogue, we support artists and intellectuals in reaching their full potential. Through art and creativity, we aim to heal racial trauma and raise awareness of privilege in Western societies.
